I’m excited to announce that we’ve released two tools today built to help interested founders plan to start a subscription business: Cratejoy’s Subscription Box Calculator + a Power User Calculator. The financial numbers we chose as defaults for these calculators are the actual numbers for a successful subscription business. Shared with permission, of course 🙂 The
7 Properties of a Great Subscription Box Business Idea
One of the most common questions I get as the CEO of Cratejoy is, “Hey Amir – is this a good subscription box business idea?” It’s always a challenging question to answer on the spot. Sometimes, it’s pretty obvious that an idea for a subscription service is great – but the only surefire way to
Cratejoy is an all in one subscription commerce platform that includes everything you need to start your own subscription box business online.
Happy New Year from Cratejoy
It’s amazing to sit back and think about how much has happened just since we launched the Cratejoy platform into the public beta in mid-October. During that time, we’ve seen incredible growth and momentum, indicating to all of us at Cratejoy that subscription is truly on the cusp of taking over the e-commerce industry. We were featured in a number of high-profile publications, including The New York Times and Wired; we launched Subscription School, a space exclusively for dialogue among subscription experts; and we even made it onto Fox News to share some of our “Made in America” sellers (like A Little Bundle pictured here) with the hosts of Fox & Friends. We now have over 1,000 sellers on the Cratejoy platform, and the number of subscribers for each of our sellers continues to grow every day.
The best part is that we’re only just beginning. Over the next year, we plan to offer further advancements to our platform, making it even easier to create and manage your own subscription business. Eventually, we want Cratejoy to become synonymous with the subscription industry, and we feel that we’re well on our way towards that goal. As for the Cratejoy Insider, expect no shortage of posts. We’ll continue to produce seller Q&A’s, “tips and tricks” on running your subscription box and general updates and announcements from Cratejoy on a regular basis.
Cratejoy Makes an Appearance on Fox & Friends!
The holiday season is in full swing and we know one of the best gifts you can give this season is the gift of subscription. Apparently, the crew at Fox & Friends feels the same way, because they invited us on the program last weekend to showcase some of Cratejoy’s amazing “made in America” sellers. Our CEO, Amir, gladly made the trip to New York City with crates in hand from A Little Bundle, Coffee Crate, Vilago, Beardbrand, The Austin Batbox, and Hazel Lane.
Helping Brands Flourish with Cratejoy’s New Subscription School Initiative
Being an entrepreneur is stressful, scary, and rewarding all at once. There’s inherent risk involved in developing an idea and putting all of your time and energy into making that idea a successful reality. At Cratejoy, we’re passionate about helping entrepreneurs succeed and today, we’re happy to announce a new initiative, one that will seek to educate those wanting to learn the ins and outs of the subscription business; something that will teach you how to operate your own small business, even if you have absolutely no experience doing so. We call it: Subscription School.
Announcing Cratejoy API

Build Your Business, Not a Website
One of our primary goals each and every day at Cratejoy is to reduce stress for our sellers when it comes to organizing all of the technical, logistical and flat-out irritating aspects of running your own e-commerce subscription business. The bottom line is that we want our Cratejoy sellers to be able to build a business, not a website. It’s something that we take a lot of pride in, and we think this short video explains what we strive to do for our customers on a daily basis. So, before you take off for your Thanksgiving holiday, check out this video and see what we’re constantly working towards. We hope you enjoy it!
Maximize Your Subscription Box This Holiday Season
Obviously we think subscriptions make the best gifts – they’re thoughtful, curated, high quality and they last longer than Christmas cookies. With that in mind, this upcoming holiday season will be a crucial point in the year for many of you, our sellers. We wanted to share a few tips to ensure you’re doing all the right things come Cyber Monday, everyone’s favorite shopping event. (We might be biased, but we think it’s way more fun than Black Friday.) Of course, your goal this holiday season should be to 1) delight your current customers and 2) bring in additional subscribers to delight. We’re here to support you in both endeavors and we think that some of these suggestions could make all the difference over the holidays.
