Bumble Brain Box

Sania Jamil runs Bumble Brain Box – a monthly brain development box for infants & toddlers (0-3 years old) to stimulate social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and auditory development. Each box comes with 5-10 sensory toys, a book, assessments, 10+ learning activities, and membership for a private group with child development experts.

How did you come up with the idea?

I own preschools, so I have been immersed in the world of early childhood education for many years. It’s in this field that I learned that 90% of brain development happens in the first 5 years, yet most of the people I met seemed to believe kindergarten and beyond is when learning should be taken seriously. I’m on a mission to inspire people to take advantage of the tremendous growth that happens in the first 5 years of their child’s life and to make it easier for them to teach.

How do you select your products?

I search all over the world for the best sensory toys that I can find, and I create a theme-based set after testing all the products with newborns, infants, and toddlers.

How do you find customers?

I find customers primarily through relationship-building on social media. Several of my subscribers have now become my good friends!

What is the most difficult part of running a subscription box business?

Patience. You have this phenomenal idea, and now, you have to hustle slowly, and steadily… Every day I’m growing, and I have to remind myself that slow and steady wins the race.

What do you enjoy most about running your business?

I love finding sensory toys for each box! It truly feels like treasure hunting. Also, I absolutely love inspiring people about the importance of early childhood education. I know I’m making an impact both domestically and internationally since a portion of proceeds goes to fund mission trips to schools worldwide.

What do customers love most about your box?

It’s not just a random assortment of products. It’s an entire curriculum, and they love how their children react to each product!

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in subscription commerce?

Solve a problem. Don’t just find a niche, but make sure your box has a purpose far beyond just delighting customers with cool products. I think that brings longevity to a box.

Anything we missed you’d like to share?

We love Cratejoy! Best platform out there for subscription box businesses.
